Pakistan’s textile and apparel exports are going to rise to $15 billion during the rest of the period of the current fiscal, according to the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), whose chairman Syed Ali Ahsan recently valued the government for recognising the export field and providing regionally competitive energy to 5 zero-rated sectors.
The annual exports of $3.5 billion worth yarn and fabric may enhance textile exports to $14 billion, he said.
He recommended the government to constitute a task force on cotton production to achieve 15 million bales and make sure its enhancement, sustainability, acquisition of top yield cotton technology, and supply of agricultural extension services.
Integrated textile and apparel parks should be established and a special task force on the revival of closed mills is crucially required, he added.
