Prime minister Imran Khan has permitted in principle the first tax amnesty scheme after it was shown and briefed by federal finance minister Asad Umar at a meeting here on Monday.
However, after the prime minister offered the formal approval, a summary will be sent to the federal cabinet for final approval at its meeting on Tuesday.
Sources said that the amnesty scheme will be executed through a presidential ordinance on April 15.
The first tax amnesty scheme will supply people with the means to legitimise all types of offshore and onshore undeclared assets.
Initially, the assets declaration scheme will be implemented for forty-five days.
Finance Minister held a meeting with PM Imran on Monday and briefed him on the tax amnesty scheme. Sources showed the Prime Minister has authorized in principle the first tax amnesty scheme.
Sources further said that the federal cabinet will be used into confidence at the time of today’s meeting in Islamabad. The amnesty scheme will be implemented on April 15 through a presidential ordinance.
