Following Zardari’s arrest NAB takes on Hamza Shehbaz

A day after PPP’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari was detained, National Accountability Bureau makes another arrest. Punjab Assembly Opposition leader Hamza Shahbaz  was arrested by NAB after Lahore High court rejected his bail plea that sought extension to his pre-arrest bail in the money laundering, assets beyond known sources of income and the Ramzan Sugar Mills cases.

PML-N leader appeared before the court today where a two-member bench, comprising Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Shahid Waheed Khan heard his petition. Hamza Shahbaz and the National Assembly Opposition leader, Shahbaz Sharif were charged in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case in April this year.

NAB had filed a reference in February last year, against the PML-N leaders, laying allegations on the Former Chief Minister of Punjab that he had been misusing his authority by constructing a bridge with public money in order to facilitate Ramzan Sugar Mills as it was owned by his sons, Hamza and Suleman Shehbaz.
