KOHAT: Deputy commissioner Matiullah Khan has declared that the anti-polio vaccination campaign, which was stopped final month, will start here from June 17 with unique target 1000s of refusal cases. Chairing a conference at his office on Thursday, he declared that foolproof preparations would be created for the security of the vaccination staff. Additional deputy commissioner Shah Nawaz and heads of the relevant divisions attended the conference.
DC appealed to the parents to fulfill their responsibility to secure their infants from the crippling disease. He asked the staff to convince the people about the significance of vaccination. Meanwhile, the district police officer has stopped leaves of the police force, like traffic wardens, for the last 10 days of Ramazan and Eidul Fitr, as a comprehensive security plan for the bazaars and religious areas was finalized. Chairing a conference at his office here on Thursday, the DPO declared that all policemen would perform their duties at the Iftar time where they would be provided with food on duty. Besides senior officials, the conference was attended by all the SHOs.
Based on the schedule, women police would also be deployed in the bazaars and shopping centers. According to SHO Afzal Awan, they quit a car at the toll plaza, monitored the passengers and seized Rs2 .2 million from a bag which they were carrying. He declared that they could not produce papers of the car and satisfy them about the money.
They were shifted to the Lachi police station where they were identified as Ghulam Qadir, Masood Khan, Khan Mohammad, Asalm Qadir and Mohammad Ayaz of Bannu district and Safiullah of Karak district. A statement granted here declared that Ghulam Qadir was a car thief against whom a case had previously been certified and he had undergone jail term for this. A case was registered against the accused and more research was underway. Meanwhile, Ustarzai police arrested a passenger at Maria checkpost and allegedly recovered four kilograms of hashish from him on Thursday. The alleged carrier was identified as Alamzeb, a resident of Bara.
