While I wouldn’t evaluate the hair stereotyping to colorism, curly hair is looked down on as unruly, messy and simply not fabulous. Oh, and yes, there are many Pakistani women with curly hair. Hair categories in Pakistan are as diverse as our skin layers tone range; we have them all and they all are fabulous but we favor one look.
I’ve been there; every time I’d try to explore the potential of my organic hair I’d be mocked for looking ‘unkempt’ even though I quite wished my wavy look. Thankfully, in the past year or so, there has been a move. The singer has announced a variety of hair products designed specifically for curly haired beauties. She produced the declaration in February and piqued our interest not only about the products but her decision to do so.
Annie revealed that the motivation for Curlpwr came to her "when I would go to purchase products but could not ever find a product that was 100% curly hair friendly. Whatever item I’d look at, I’d usually feel like something could be tweaked in that specific item, maybe something added or subtracted but I was just not ever satisfied with what was on the market.
"That’s when I took lessons in the formulation of hair products, particularly shampoos, conditioners and hair creams. I started understanding the procedure behind formulation. Then I researched formulation companies in the UK and I found a bunch of amazing skincare chemists who helped to me formulate these products.”
The Curlpwr variety includes a shampoo, conditioner, a curl defining cream and hair oil. The products are paraben and sulfate no cost and are meant to supply moisture to the curls, bringing out the best to their volume and shine.”Seeing the younger ladies in Pakistan, I see that they really want support and awareness about how to maintain and embrace their organic hair. Hopefully, I can encourage desi girls to take care of their hair and realize their real curl potential.”
